About the role
- Collaborate with business development (Win Work) teams and market leads to define proposal schedules, deliverables and required effort.
- Work with the project delivery team (project management and administrative services) to define project objectives, timelines and deliverables.
- Oversee the engineering project lifecycle: design, development, testing and implementation, while managing technical risks and resources.
- Supervise the design execution plan and interdisciplinary technical coordination.
- Ensure internal and external effort estimates, schedules, deliverables and scope-related obligations are clearly understood, adhered to and monitored.
- Prepare and submit monthly project reports to the Director of Engineering Management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with more than 15 years of experience in transportation projects, including design of rail and transit infrastructure (light rail).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering management, leading complex multidisciplinary teams through planning, design and delivery phases.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks across provinces, registered professional engineer in Canada, and eligibility to obtain professional licensure in multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience supervising the design of transit systems (LRT, BRT or others), ensuring compliance with standards, managing consultants and integrating with urban environments and existing infrastructure.
- Experience working in highly regulated environments, including municipal, provincial and federal authorities.
- Understanding of the importance of safety, compliance and stakeholder coordination in public infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with civil engineering, utilities and systems engineering, with the ability to coordinate across disciplines and stakeholders.
- Experience with various contracting models, including Alliance-type contracts (an asset).
- Excellent technical expertise, problem-solving and decision-making skills, attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to present complex technical information to diverse audiences (bilingual French/English is an asset).
