About the role

  • Manage and strengthen the database layer for Emphasys housing management solutions
  • Hands-on work with SQL Server, report development, and troubleshooting
  • Perform query and index optimization, data migrations, and troubleshooting
  • Work closely with Developers, QA, and Business Analysts in an Agile team; report to the Data and Reporting Manager
  • Support data quality and customer success by identifying and correcting data inconsistencies and assisting with custom data requests
  • Diagnose and resolve SQL issues, conduct SQL diagnostics, and provide on-call support when urgent problems arise
  • Design, build, and maintain critical reports (government-mandated compliance reports and client-specific requests) using SSRS and Crystal Reports
  • Lead data migrations and transformations for customer migrations from competitor systems
  • Monitor and tune SQL queries, indexes, and procedures to improve performance, scalability, and stability
  • Create and maintain documentation for database changes, migrations, troubleshooting steps, and permanent fixes
  • Contribute to team knowledge sharing, mentoring, and participation in enterprise-scale projects

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience as an MS SQL Developer on enterprise-level projects
  • Strong foundation in SQL Server Development
  • Proven ability to write, tune, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions
  • Proficiency with Crystal Reports and SSIS
  • Exposure to, or interest in, Power BI and cloud technologies
  • Experience with query and index optimization, data migrations, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to diagnose performance issues and track/resolve SQL-based bugs
  • Experience executing data migrations, transformations, and custom data manipulations
  • Comfortable providing on-call support for urgent production issues
  • Experience working in Agile teams and participating in Agile ceremonies
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Takes ownership, documents findings, and ensures long-term stability of fixes
  • Must be able to work remotely within the US or Canada
