About the role
- Design and develop hydraulic systems for mobile equipment
- Create and maintain detailed hydraulic schematics for designs and components
- Create and manage 3D CAD models and produce 2D drawings for manufacturing and assembly
- Provide field or remote support for project commissioning and troubleshooting
- Work with suppliers to obtain pricing and delivery lead times
- Create and maintain project parts and hardware lists
- Contribute to the preparation of technical project proposals
- Oversee the technical aspects of projects to ensure documentation and quality standards are met
- Actively contribute to department initiatives and priorities
- Own the full development of solutions from concept through realization
- Stay current with new technologies and identify opportunities to improve Applied’s products and services
- Train and mentor colleagues to help develop their technical skills
- Document the value added by solutions offered to customers
- Perform any other related duties
Requirements
- Postsecondary degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology
- Member of or eligible for the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or the equivalent body for professional technologists (CET)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience designing hydraulic systems and fluid power for mobile applications across various industries (agriculture experience is an asset)
- Excellent proficiency in 3D modeling (CAD), technical drawings, schematics and work instructions
- Bilingual in French and English (required)
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) or other risk assessment methods (asset)
- Experience in project management and Lean manufacturing (asset)
- Knowledge of electronic control systems, software development, communication protocols, electrical integration, harness design and electrification (asset)
- Collaborative mindset and ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated aptitude for field and remote troubleshooting
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Availability to travel as required (less than 10%)
