About the role

  • Operating within the core values and operating principles of the organization, responsible for directing the Investment of the Company portfolio, Investment Accounting, Treasury management and portions of the Company reconciliation process
  • Responsible for capital planning for the organization in order to meet regulatory and rating agency requirements, as well as ensuring proper cash flows associated with required capital contributions
  • Oversees the management of the Investment Portfolio as requested by the CFO
  • Assists in developing and monitoring the investment and cash management strategies for AAA Life Alliance
  • Acts as a primary liaison between the investment and treasury department and managers/officers for investment and cash management analysis
  • Conducts research activities as needed on investment and treasury issues
  • Conducts reconciliation of general ledger accounts as needed
  • Ensures modifications are incorporated into the financial process
  • Monitors and supports effective capital management for the entities of the AAA Life Alliance and works with rating agencies as required to ensure adequate capitalization
  • Responsible for planning and assisting in projects and to ensure the overall success of those projects
  • Provides coaching and guidance to staff to work toward agreed upon objectives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Math or Accounting or equivalent experience required
  • FLMI, CPA, CFA and/or CTP strongly recommended
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in investments, or accounting/finance position involved with investments
  • Experience with fixed income investing is preferred
  • Experience in the insurance industry is preferred; or in a similar institutional investor setting
  • Proficiency in PC applications and advanced spreadsheet modeling
  • Experience with Microsoft office applications and data base systems required
  • General understanding of Statements of Statutory Accounting Principles (SSAP)
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Willingness to work extended hours or weekends as needed (month end processing, budget season, ratings agency work, year-end work in January)
